We’re looking for 2nd Line Support Technicians to join our busy IT Support team; reporting to the Support Manager, you’ll be responsible for providing quality support to ever-increasing customer base.

The ideal person will have a combination of excellent communication and technical skills, having consistently delivered solutions with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.

Based in our Lancashire Head Office you’ll join an existing team of 2nd Line Technicians, picking up escalated issues from the Helpdesk / 1st Line team diagnosis and going on to fix complex faults – with further escalation to 3rd Line when necessary.  Systems supported are primarily Microsoft, so strong Windows experience is essential, as are excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.  Some Mac skills and experience would be an advantage.

Previous experience in a similar business-to-business 2nd line role is essential – these positions need technicians with experience in (but not limited to) software, hardware/desktop break/fix, server builds, server installation, networking, firewalls and routing. We’re looking for the following skills and experience:

  • a broad range of recent experience of IT hardware/software typically found in small to medium-sized business environments – ideally from a managed service background;
  • clean UK driving licence;
  • good knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, LAN and WAN;
  • good working knowledge or Microsoft Office 365 and Office 2010;
  • experience with gateways, firewalls, routers, switches and current security products;
  • good knowledge of Windows 7, 8 and 10 operating systems;
  • good knowledge of Windows Server 2008/2012 – including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP;
  • good knowledge of Microsoft Exchange configuration and administration;
  • knowledge of MS SBS – preferably migrations;
  • knowledge of backup/restore tools.
